They’re stored in c:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Notepad++\shortcuts.xml

Every situation is different, of course, but in general, I agree. Another benefit to releasing as soon as possible is *real* user feedback. As developers, we can try to guess what our users will want, or even talk to users about what they say they want, but in my experience, you’ll get much better feedback and ideas from a user when he/she actually sees it, and interacts with it.

Incidentally, these people aren’t actually users until they *use* your software! Until then, they are just *potential* users, and the more you can do to help them see value, the better chance they will become *actual* users. What better way to see the value that to actually use something!

Actually, user-created macros are *not* being saved in shortcuts.xml as that StackOverflow post (and many other websites) state. At least not in my version (5.4.2). Haven’t been able to find where they’re stored yet.

Quite frustrating to be working so hard to figure out how to edit a macro in a tool geared towards programmers. Even M$ World let you edit macros!

Man I wish I could have found this article before I dropped my cell phone into a glass of water by sitting by the pool. That one really cost me $$$ for a new one. Great article and I copied it so that in case I ever need it again (hope not).
